FORTUNA 3D EM EAS System – Cost-Effective Security for Retail & Libraries

The FORTUNA 3D EM EAS System by TAGIT is a cost-efficient, high-performance anti-theft solution designed for environments where functionality and value matter more than aesthetics.
Equipped with TAGIT’s patented 3D detection technology, FORTUNA delivers reliable tag detection in all label orientations—even in challenging electrical noise environments. It supports variable aisle widths depending on setup and is ideal for use in medium-segment retail stores, budget-conscious retail chains, and educational or public libraries.

Manufactured using durable materials and offered in standard white, the system is well-suited for locations where external housing or cosmetic covers will be added. It’s the go-to option for customers who prioritize performance and savings over design.

TAGIT 3D Electromagnetic (EM) Systems – FAQ

Can TAGIT 3D EM systems detect items inside aluminium foil or booster bags?

Yes. TAGIT 3D EM systems detect EM labels even through aluminium foil and booster bags, and perform reliably on metal, curved, and small-format products.

Are TAGIT EM labels compatible with other EM systems?

Yes. TAGIT EM labels are compatible with most standard electromagnetic (EM) EAS systems, including mixed and legacy installations.
Exception: compatibility with Meto systems is not guaranteed when used with standard EM labels.

For environments combining Meto and non-Meto infrastructures, dual-technology EM labels are available. These integrate both detection formats and can be applied either at the distribution center (DC) or directly during manufacturing, ensuring cross-system usability.

Can TAGIT 3D EM systems detect labels on metal objects?

Yes. TAGIT 3D EM systems can detect EM labels applied to metal and metal-containing objects, where standard electromagnetic systems may experience reduced performance.

However, performance can be affected if the metal is strongly magnetized, as this may interfere with electromagnetic signal response and reduce detection reliability.

What type of EM label should I use for different products?

EM Label Selection by Product Size

Larger products: use longer EM labels for stronger signal detection and improved range
Smaller products: use short or high-performance labels (e.g. Twin or Power Labels) for compact application without loss of reliability

Longer labels generally provide increased detection performance, while high-performance formats improve results on challenging surfaces, packaging types, or constrained applications.

What ROI can I expect from a TAGIT 3D EM system?

TAGIT systems enable protection of a wider range of high-shrink items compared to many alternative technologies, helping reduce overall retail shrinkage and improve return on investment.

Actual ROI depends on store size, product mix, and existing security coverage, but is typically driven by measurable reductions in theft-related losses.

Are there products that cannot be protected?

Only items with strong magnetic properties may interfere with detection and therefore cannot be reliably protected with EM labels.

Aside from this limitation, TAGIT 3D EM is a highly versatile and widely compatible EAS technology, suitable for a broad range of retail and institutional applications.

What causes environmental noise interference?

Environmental noise interference in electromagnetic (EM) EAS systems is caused by nearby devices or infrastructure that generate or distort electromagnetic fields, affecting detection stability and signal performance.

Common sources include:
Air conditioning systems and industrial electrical equipment
Computer monitors and IT infrastructure
Special or high-frequency lighting systems
Other EM EAS systems installed nearby (e.g. Meto EM systems)

This type of interference is a known characteristic of all EM-based security systems and is not specific to TAGIT solutions.

TAGIT 3D EM technology is designed to maintain stable EM EAS detection performance in environments with typical electromagnetic noise, supporting reliable operation in retail and institutional installations.

How can I improve detection in high-noise environments?

If environmental noise cannot be reduced physically, detection performance can be optimized through system configuration and tuning methods:

Master–Master configurations to enhance system robustness in demanding installations
Sensor-based tuning and calibration for fine adjustment of detection sensitivity and field stability

These approaches help maintain reliable EM EAS detection performance even in environments with persistent electromagnetic interference or complex installation conditions.

What is the maximum aisle width TAGIT EM systems support?

TAGIT 3D EM systems can typically support aisle widths of up to 1.15 meters in standard configurations, while maintaining reliable electromagnetic (EM) detection performance.

Actual performance may vary depending on installation conditions such as:

environmental noise and nearby electrical equipment
system configuration and tuning
label type and product placement
surrounding materials and store layout

For wider or more complex installations, system optimization or alternative configurations may be required to maintain detection reliability.

How can I further maximize detection and aisle width?

Use longer EM labels where possible to improve signal strength and detection range
Upgrade to Master–Master configurations with sensor-based tuning for improved field stability
Apply high-performance specialty labels (e.g. Power or Twin Labels) for critical or difficult items

These measures help increase aisle width flexibility and maintain strong, reliable EM EAS detection performance in challenging environments.
