Solution: TAGIT 3D EM EAS System with Hybrid Self-Checkout Integration
Challenge
E.Leclerc supermarkets faced persistent challenges with theft, particularly involving small, high-value items often packaged in foil or metallic materials. Traditional RF and AM systems proved inadequate in detecting such items, especially when concealed in booster bags. The need for a more reliable and discreet solution was paramount to protect inventory without disrupting the customer experience.
TAGIT Solution
In collaboration with JK System, E.Leclerc implemented the TAGIT 3D EM EAS System, renowned for its:
- Patented 3D Detection Technology:
Ensures high detection rates across all label orientations, effectively identifying items concealed in foil or booster bags.
- Compatibility with Metal and Foil Packaging: Effectively detects items even when concealed in challenging materials.
- Hybrid Integration with Self-Checkout Terminals: Seamlessly combines with self-checkout systems, maintaining a smooth customer experience while enhancing security.
- Low Maintenance: Operates reliably without the need for frequent servicing. This tailored solution provided E.Leclerc with a robust and discreet anti-theft system, enhancing security measures without compromising store aesthetics or customer convenience.
Results
- Significant Reduction in Theft: Notable decrease in shrinkage, particularly for high-risk items.
- Improved Inventory Control: Enhanced ability to monitor and protect high-risk items.
- Seamless Customer Experience: The discreet system maintained a welcoming shopping environment while deterring theft.
- Positive ROI: The effectiveness of the TAGIT system ensured a strong return on investment by minimizing losses and maintaining customer satisfaction.

Yes. TAGIT 3D EM systems operate at low frequencies, enabling them to detect products even when hidden in aluminium foil or booster bags—techniques used to bypass traditional RF and AM systems.TAGIT labels also perform reliably on metal surfaces, rounded packaging, and small objects. Watch how
Yes, with one exception. TAGIT EM labels are compatible with all standard EM systems except Meto. For customers using both Meto and non-Meto systems, dual-technology labels are available that work across platforms—including tagging at DC or during manufacturing.
Yes. TAGIT 3D EM technology detects labels applied to metal objects—unless the metal is magnetized, which interferes with detection.
Larger products → use longer labels for stronger signal detectionSmaller products → use short or high-performance labels (e.g. Twin or Power Labels)
Longer labels generally improve detection range, and high-performance options boost results for difficult surfaces or formats.
TAGIT systems allow you to protect more high-shrink items than other technologies, leading to significant shrinkage reduction and a better return on investment.

Only items with magnetic properties cannot be protected. This limitation aside, TAGIT 3D EM is one of the most versatile and widely compatible EAS systems available.
Nearby devices such as air conditioners, computer monitors, special lighting, and Meto EM systems can introduce environmental noise. This is a known issue with all EAS systems—not unique to TAGIT.
If environmental noise cannot be reduced physically, you can optimize system performance using:
- Master-Master or Turbo configurations
- Sensor-based tuning
These allow fine adjustment to ensure maximum detection reliability even in challenging conditions.
TAGIT 3D EM systems can detect across aisle widths up to 1.15 meters with standard setups.
- Use longer EM labels where possible
- Upgrade to Turbo Mode or Master-Master configuration with sensors
- Apply high-performance specialty labels for critical items
These adjustments allow greater aisle flexibility and stronger detection performance.
